There is but ONE ultimate Authority – a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants, they do not govern.
Nice idea – but not as simple as it looks – especially nowadays. Authority is a religion in this world. Take the word “religion”. From the Latin “religare” – which means “to bind back” or “to hold back”. It can also mean “to connect”.
There is good religion and bad religion. The religion of Authority is bad religion. There is ONE ultimate Authority – God. Inside and outside AA. There is no human authority. There is a “belief” in authority by weak-willed people – alcoholics for one. Why? Abdication of responsibility – of course! I would rather break the rules behind your back than stand up for Truth. But why? FEAR.
For me, this is core life and death terror. I suspect there are a lot of people like me out there because of where the world is at – where we are just handing over our freedoms left and right for distractions. Most people live this way now.
People, including myself, are stuck on a belief in an Authority that is not God.
That’s why we live in a democracy – a democracy elects an authority as the leader – even when they lie to you. Same as the Delegate – who is supposed to be the steward of the Traditions – most Delegates have no clue about the Traditions anymore – no one cares about them at all. But it’s lies that have been repeated that have led us down this road.
Poor old Bill W. refers to anarchy in the AA Service Manual as chaos – and he, with the help of Bernard Smith, a Rockefeller boy, designed the doomed-to-fail service structure modeled after the doomed-to-fail democracy. That’s going to be too hard for most people to fathom.
Anarchy means “freedom from rulers” – “An” means “No” and “Archon” means rulers. It does not mean “no rules”. The 12 steps transform us into people who require no external rulers. We have an inner monarchy as the result of the 12 steps. God, and we use 10, 11, and 12 to process our feelings and gain spiritual understanding so we can carry on. We don’t need rules – we have spiritual principles.
So you just take it a step further – into society – and that’s where our troubles come in, because we have not accepted the idea that we must use spiritual principles to find God when we deal with each other – that’s why would prefer our society be governed by others – because we don’t like the time and effort it takes to work together, using spiritual principles to gain consensus – but too bad – that’ s the task at hand.
It requires a world-view shift and you think I am talking about an outside issue now – but I am not. I am talking about FREEDOM which is what the 12-steps of AA promises, trying to survive within socialism.
They want us free from alcohol ONLY so we can be good worker slaves. NO! The reason the principles of the 12 steps and 12 traditions come back over and over within groups of desperate people is because they are INHERENT to EARTH – they are Universal Spiritual Laws that Govern the behavior of beings who have the capacity for knowing right and wrong – humans – alcoholics – can’t differentiate between the true and the false without God, but once we have God – we can!
Belief in Authority is a problem. It is definitely a problem of mine. I have been mind-controlled into belief in authority other than God.
Time to write inventory on Authority… why? Because as is stated in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
So who is the Authority in the above statement? The Creator. However, is He? We (who is we? alcoholics? everyone?) We are disunified on this topic – Our thoughts>emotions>actions are not congruent – the purpose of the 12 steps is to give you a way to have your thoughts>emotions>and actions be unified under Principle/God – I know that I may feel in my heart that the Creator is my Authority and then when I get out on the road and I see a cop, I slow down like everyone else to the speed limit. Who is the authority then? I am not free as long as I feel the encroachment on my freedom from other human beings, who are carrying guns. Who is going to be the Authority when they demand a vaccination to get a driver’s license?
And you KNOW the driver’s license thing is a total fraud, right? Under the Constitution of the United States, the right to travel is inherent. We have just all fallen for this Statist ideology out of convenience and not wanting to try to understand the purposefully unintelligable legal language of juris prudence.
AA used to be a place to practice embodying God as the Ultimate Authority. That’s gone.
AA USED TO BE A SAFE SPACE but since nowadays we don’t follow our Traditions either and I don’t have a voice in groups either because there is a secret government or because there is one “owner” of the group running it – what’s the difference between in AA and outside? Nothing.
I am working hard at my only authority being God. I have a friend who speaks on this all the time – he is not an AAer and he has a strong will. I was listening to a cd of his yesterday on the topic and I could not keep my eyes open. I just am blocked in this area.
What are Authorities: God, alcohol, religion, fear, tell-lie-vision, Big Brother, surveillance, cell phones, social media, money, parents, government, employers, partner, men, the police, the military, the threat of violence, loud voices, mean voices, gurus, good talkers, red lights, the Big Book, instant gratification, looking good, …
I am going to use the extended third column method of inventory to find out all the beliefs I have about Authority – and I will print them here for you because I think most people in AA suffer from this and could use this information for their Spiritual Growth.
