I got the most slovenly disgusting comments from some dude today and I thought – “hmmmmm…..” Isn’t Love and Tolerance of Others, OUR CODE?????
I am going to practice it and not publish this trash – and I will pray for this guy.
How do these people stay sober who do not follow our principles? I will never know – unless maybe they are NOT alcoholics.
I have to follow all of our principles to the letter otherwise I get smacked in the face with a rake-handle – and yet so many people can do so many other things and call themselves alcoholics – but I am not sure they know powerlessness like I know it.
I have met a lot of heavy drinkers in AA. I have met a lot of narcissists in AA. I have met a lot of psychopaths in AA. I have met a lot of lonely-hearts in AA. There are not that many real alcoholics in AA.
Love and tolerance of others means just that – however – I am not going to use one of our codes to trump other principles of ours – like – We practice these principles in ALL of our affairs. I do also have to do that – meaning that I may LOVE you and practice tolerance of your differing beliefs, however that does not mean that you are in the INNER CIRCLE or that I have to make you my best friend. It means that I have to respect you – treat you with courtesy – and give you a wide berth.
I get to say whatever the heck I feel like saying on this blog – because it is MY blog – this is not AA’s blog, this is not representing AA – I need a place to vent about what the hell I am experiencing in AA right now – and this blog is where I do that – so if you don’t like it – there are another billion blogs you can read on the subject – go do so –
I will not publish trash comments – I will press “delete” – which I did today. That is practicing LOVE and TOLERANCE – hey – I could figure out who this guy is and go hunt him down – it wouldn’t be the first time…
I am sponsoring a gal with 27 years who lost her way – and it is startling to me that she has stayed sober – with the mixture of garbage she picked up in the fellowship – she had a car accident and thinks she can’t take the prescribed pain meds – and she is NOT an addict.
She thinks she has a choice about “who she drinks with” which means she thinks she has a choice about drinking –
She thinks you go to AA meetings for “insurance.”
Here’s my thing – if what you think about alcoholism cannot be verified by what is written in the first, second or third edition of the book, Alcoholics Anonymous – then you need to throw what you think away – it came from treatment or somewhere else and you have become an AA-Bobblehead – verify your facts with the book and remember – we go to meetings to help others.
As things get weirder – I use the “Trust God, Clean House, and Help Others” more and more, as the fellowship deteriorates.
I will certainly not publish filth by some person who claims they are an old-timer and does not understand – neither endorsing or opposing causes, love and tolerance of others, Live and Let Live, and attraction rather than promotion.
