Can It Get Weirder?

I was in a meeting today with a guy I know, who was in a full-on hazmat suit. I thought it was a costume when he swaggered in – but quickly realized it was for-real – he had a chip on his shoulder.

People chuckled when he came in, and he took offense to this and basically told us that we should all be in suits as well. He also used that “God gave us brains to use” line that I just wrote about – taken out of context – for this very reason.

The book says “Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives. Under these conditions we can employ our mental faculties with assurance, for after all God gave us brains to use. Our thought-life will be placed on a much higher plane when our thinking is cleared of wrong motives.”

Therefore I am supposed to ask God to direct my thinking – and then I can use my brains. This gentleman did not seem to have prayed before using his brains. Good luck with that!

Honestly, these days, I have had to interrupt several people at several meetings because they were talking about the CVBS in the meetings, that we all now have to wear masks, and today the guy talked about being protected by the blood of Jesus Christ.

OMFG People – it is just showing me how few people in AA really TRUST God and can put their money where their mouth is and stay centered in a shit-storm. It’s a big test which AA.org is failing – they are violating the 10th Tradition as well.
